Book Week 2012 begins Monday Aug 20th.

Each day at lunchtime there will be activities in the library.

They include:

MONDAY – Jan Allen award winners announced

Musical entertainment by our senior students.

TUESDAY and WEDNESDAY

Hunger games – put your name in the reaping bowl to take part in the quiz

Form a team and see if you can survive in the RACE TO THE CORNUCOPIA.

Jan Allen creative writing competition

The library invites you to enter the Jan Allen creative writing competition.

There are prizes of $50 for winners of the junior, intermediate or senior sections.

 Criteria:

  Entries must be between 200—1000 words in length

  Please save as a Word document. 

  Entries can be emailed to: escreadingcafe@gmail.com

  Don’t forget to add your name and homegroup details.

 

 

Periodicals

The Emerald Secondary College Library subscribes to many periodicals. The library offers teachers a subscription service via email.

By subscribing through the library you will receive an email at each new issue containing a scan of the front cover and contents page/s. You can reply to that email requesting copies of articles which will then be sent to you in the same format, as well as a hard copy into your pigeon hole.

QR (Quick Response) codes enable you to read messages or link to interesting websites, via your phone.  To read the QR codes that you will soon see in the library you need to download a QR reader app.

Term 3 Olympic study challenge for senior students

The Library is challenging senior students to become involved in the ‘Olympic study challenge’.  Like the Olympic Reading challenge, this is a homegroup based competition with the winning homegroup awarded a pizza lunch.

Students must record tasks completed in their planners, and have teachers verify them.

Add them to your homegroups tally sheet in the library.
